Description

Tekplas Plastic Compost Bin Lid

Lock in heat, control moisture, and protect your compost from unpredictable UK weather.

  • Faster Composting: Traps internal heat and speeds up the natural decomposition process

  • Moisture Control: Prevents heavy rain from waterlogging your organic waste

  • Pest Protection: Keeps curious wildlife and pests out of your bin

  • Zero Assembly Required: Simply slots onto your existing compost bin setup

  • Eco-Friendly: Made in the UK from durable, 100% recycled uPVC

Why Add a Lid to Your Setup?

🌡️ Traps Heat for Quicker Results

Composting relies on heat. The Tekplas lid creates an insulated seal over your bin, trapping essential warmth generated by active microbes. This significantly accelerates organic breakdown, giving you rich, usable compost much faster.

🌧️ Prevents Waterlogging

While compost needs humidity, heavy British downpours can quickly wash away vital nutrients and leave your pile soggy. A top cover shields your bin from heavy rainfall while maintaining optimal moisture levels inside.

🧰 Effortless, Tool-Free Installation

No tools or extra fixings required—simply place it directly onto your assembled Tekplas compost bin. It lifts off easily whenever you need to add kitchen scraps or garden waste.

♻️ Maintenance-Free & Weather-Proof

Manufactured from high-grade recycled uPVC, this lid will never rot, rust, or warp in extreme temperatures. Cleaning is as simple as a quick spray with the garden hose.

  • Note: Minor surface marks or slight color variations may occur naturally as a result of using recycled materials—a badge of true sustainability!

Care Guide

Cleaning & Care

To clean your compost bin, simply wash it down with a garden hose or use hot soapy water. For any stubborn marks or stains, we recommend using a PVC solvent cleaner. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using solvent cleaners.

Hot Weather Advice

If your compost bin is positioned in full sunlight during periods of prolonged hot weather and strong direct sunlight, we recommend covering the compost lids with hessian or a tarpaulin to help reduce heat build-up. Alternatively, you can support the centre of the lid to minimise the risk of any possible issues.

We also recommend choosing our Heavy Duty Top Brace Bars, as these provide excellent support and help maintain the rigidity in exceptionally hot temperatures we have been experiencing.
